Jordon and Ashley: Married! | utah wedding photographer

In December, I was able to be the photographer for Ashley and Jordon's wedding. They are such a cute couple, and Ashley is my husband's cousin, so I was able to be surrounded his family while taking their photos. I love weddings and all the happiness that surrounds them - and it was very obvious that this was a joyous day for both families. It was a freezing cold day in Draper, but nothing stops this couple from showing off their love :)

While on our extra-long stay in Utah, all of my husband's family was home for Christmas and I got to take photos of my adorable nephew, Boston. We made a makeshift studio at their cabin and got some great shots of this sweet little baby boy! He really is such a sweet baby and oh-so-cute!

I loved this session! This fabulous and adorable couple just set up their adoption page and asked me to take some photos for them to add to their profile. They live in downtown Richmond in an adorable apartment by the canal and wanted to show their stomping grounds in these photos. The colors were AMAZING around RVA and they were so fun to watch and take pictures of. Any child would be so lucky to call them Mommy and Daddy. This is my dear friend, Lorel, and her family. We have lived within minutes of each other since I was about 5. We followed each other to Utah, got married within a few months of each other, had our first babies 3 days apart, and moved back to Virginia while our husbands went to school within a month of each other. Amazing, right?? Well, now that our time has come to go to residency, we are counting down the days that we'll be near each other still. I was so happy to take pictures of her beautiful family while I can, and to have any excuse to get together!

The colors in these pictures are absolutely beautiful! University of Richmond is one of my favorite places to take pictures in the fall. There's something about the brick buildings and walkways that are timeless, but mix that with the fall colors and it's just perfect! I met up with this cute family at their house and we had fun hanging out outside their (gorgeous) home taking these pictures. Their dog, Ruger, joined them for a couple shots and I learned what a Ruger was and why they named him that... You'd think being married to an avid hunter and mountain man I would know these things! Cindy's brother's family joined them for some photos and their little boy is adorable!!

I love this shot. We got two pictures in a row where both their cute baby and their dog were pulling the same faces - one smiling below and one looking like something was very curious. It made me laugh while we were taking their pictures :)

I have been very excited to take pictures for this adorable family! I just love the mama and we've been talking about taking these for months. We were pregnant together and her middle boy is the same age as my little boy. :) I am so going to miss her when we move!

The boys were so good during the session, and they are just such a happy family - as you can see in these photos. At one point Grandma and I had them all belly laughing and those are some of my favorite shots!

I just have to start out with... OMG! I could not stop editing Laurajane's senior photos. Redheads are my new favorite photo subjects! She is beautiful, her eyes are oh-so-blue, she had so many great ideas, so many great outfits and the most fun part: we did these pictures at the FAIR! I loved all the looks we got as she was posing in the middle of the crowd, and we had several people stop and as if she was modeling. Isn't she gorgeous?

I love when clients come with lots of ideas. It's so much easier to have a set style and idea in mind than winging the day of the session and trying to get everything just to cover all my bases. Her session was awesome. I loved everything about it, so enjoy the photo overload because honestly, I can't narrow them down!

Charlie is one adorable boy. And, like most boys, he loves trains. We headed to some train tracks that are nearby and lucky us, 3 trains went by as we were there! He was completely mesmerized and it was fun chasing him around during the session. And literally chasing, because that's all you can do when trying to photograph a 2-year-old! :)

These photos are long overdue! I was able to be the photographer for the beautiful couple, Andrew and Emilie. We went to local locations around Hanover County for the photos (including her grandparent's barley field) and I love how they turned out. They grew up and got married out in Studley, which exactly where these photos were taken.

Their wedding was stunning and because they have been together so long, the whole group was just one big family and everyone was involved. One of her friends strung these pearls and made her necklace for her. Beautiful!

I loved working on these photos and can't wait to share the rest from the wedding!

This sweet baby girl's mother wanted to capture her at this point in time. She didn't have any newborn photos taken and wanted to get some before she's all grown up. All mothers think their babies grow up too fast, right? I'm so happy I was able to take these photos for them!

I will be offering 2 mini session dates where you will have a 25-minute session at a location yet to be determined (depending on client locations.) Some props will be provided and it will include 10 edited photos - the perfect amount for holiday cards and updating grandparents' photos!

I love this family. We claim them as our own, and technically they kind of are, but not at the same time. My sister is the beautiful strawberry blond one and she married into this family. But, I have been friends with her sister in law since we were in elementary school, and her other sister in law is our regular babysitter, and we always go over to their house for dinners and holidays. They are our family while we're away from family :)

Baby Story is beautiful and perfect. I'm so happy her mama let me take newborn pictures again for them. It seems like we keep taking turns being pregnant. :) Story was sweet during the whole session, slept at the perfect times, was awake at the perfect times, but she was NOT wanting to pose for us. My sister is awesome, and even though she was nervous, she was still willing to take our family pictures this year. She really did a great job! We didn't take as many as I usually take during a photo session, but I got enough to fill the empty frames around my house :) So, obviously these aren't taken by me, but I did edit them.

This is totally not posed - and I love it. This is my sweet 3-year-old.

I couldn't decide between B&W and color.

I thought this picture was great. So many parents get stressed during photo sessions because their kids aren't sitting perfectly still and smiling for the camera, but that's not how sessions go with kids! Here was a picture my sister snapped when both kids needed a "water break" :) This is how kids are, and kids will still be kids during the session! Don't stress, I get a lot of great pictures to make up for the crazy ones!

This was a runner-up, but baby boy wasn't looking.

My older boy is so sick of me taking pictures of him. He growls at me when I pull out my camera! This picture makes me SO happy because we captured his real smile!

I'm lucky enough to be related to this cute family! This is my hubby's brother, his wife and their adorable kids, who are the exact same ages as my kids. How lucky to have cousins the same age! While in Utah, I was able to take this adorable couple's engagements. It was quite the ordeal! I flew in from Virginia, she flew in from Arizona last minute for the session, and we had to find a time where we could all do it, and a place to do it since we're all not from around Utah. I think we hit the jackpot with this awesome spot. And to top off the weekend, I also got to watch him play volleyball for BYU! And they won the game!

I think we got some beautiful shots. I love how they turned out. And let me tell ya, these guys are funny. I was cracking up the whole shoot. I wish I could share all the photos I took :)

I've known this little family since the oldest was just a baby and she was pregnant with their second. Now look how big they are! These kids are fun to watch because they all play so well together, and are so goofy together too!

Jen claims Miss Suzy is not a girly girl, but she posed in the girliest ways for me without me having to coax any girliness at all :)

Most of the time I have horizontal pictures, but the favorites from this shoot were mostly all vertical... hmm...
